About Me

Hi, welcome to my blog. I’m Jordan Tate, a young adult woman living in the beautiful state of Maine. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science in 2015 and have been working in the environmental field since. I’ll admit that while I know much about the ins and outs of sustainability, I find myself too often taking the easy and convenient options most readily available, which are usually the most wasteful.

I purchased a small home a few years ago here in central Maine and live with my husband, four cats, and two dogs. In the spring, summer, and early fall, we spend as much of our time outdoors as possible, whether we are simply enjoying our yard or kayaking through rivers in the mountains and foothills. In the winter I spend my weekends cross country skiing, snowshoeing with my dogs, or cuddled up inside binge-watching Netflix.

I’ve lived my whole life in Maine, therefore, much of my experience around sustainability is based on that. Someone living in the southwestern United States will have different approaches to sustainability than I do, as would someone living in any major metropolitan area across the world.

I hope anyone visiting this blog can take something away from one of my articles about sustainability and apply it to their life, but realize I will likely learn as much from any of your stories as well. If you have questions, suggestions, or would simply like to share your own ideas on sustainability, you can reach me through comments on articles or at the.sustainability.guide@gmail.com.
